if you live in new york or connecticut and like good music, then watch this short video. those who can decipher the “subliminal” advertising will be awarded nothing except the chance to see these amazingly entertaining fellows, known as WHY?, live in a nearby city. a few months back the us tour was cancelled due to yoni breaking his hand so here’s hoping yoni and josiah make it back to the northwest soon.
over the years i have never been a björk fan, especially back in high school when everyone was freaking out about her. i’m guessing it was her obscure sound at the time and everyone was on the verge of breaking out of the cliques to be more unique. i was listening to mostly rock and some punk back in those days. but recently, i have fallen in love with several icelandic bands and artists. so naturally, i am coming full circle and giving björk another listen. i do like her now. go figure.
although, i have always liked it’s oh so quiet:
local artist to: new york city
skeletons are a bit difficult to peg for a certain style of music. each song is different from the last but yet the ‘people’ album is oddly cohesive and well put together. i would love to see this band live!
listen & love
…yann tiersen was amazing on saturday! so incredible that i haven’t listened to anything else all morning.
i feel very lucky to have been able to see the frenchman twice within one year, the last time being with my little sis at the granada theater in april 2010. i had a horrible cold that day and even called in sick to work just so i would feel good for the show that night.
i’m still kinda speechless about the show at nuemos. it was completely magical and mesmerizing. i love when artists constantly swap instruments during a set. yann played the guitar, mandolin, melodica, moog synthesizer and of course his violin. ahhh, the violin!
i still get goosebumps just watching the videos. i hope you do too. and i love yann’s pairing of a striped hoodie with a flannel shirt on top ♥
yann tiersen also made my favorite live shows of 2010 list.
